Limited People, Unlimited God

Sometimes we need to remember that we’re human. We need to be aware of our limitations. Then we can gently remind ourselves that we don’t have to check everything off of our endless to-do lists right this very moment.

It’s okay to leave things unfinished today. It’s okay to save some stuff for tomorrow. It’s okay if certain tasks have to wait.

It’s okay to not have it all figured out or planned out. It’s okay to be tired. It’s okay to rest.

My daughter is on the track team for the first time, and she is getting stronger and faster with each race. She’s been inspiring me in so many ways. Her hard work, her determination, her reliance on God; she keeps facing her fears and nerves and running her heart out. She keeps setting PR’s. We’re so proud.

As I watched all the runners run their races, I had the realization that it’s okay to come in last place. It’s even okay if you don’t finish. If you lose, if you stumble, if you fall flat on your face – it’s okay. If you get right back up, if you don’t right away, even if you quit – it’s okay.

And if you set personal records, if you win first place or second or third, if you keep getting stronger and better – it’s okay.

It’s all okay. Whatever you show up and do, whatever you do with your human limitations… it’s okay.

“Even perfection has its limits, but Your commands have no limit.” – Psalm 119:96 (NLT)

“I have seen that all [human] perfection has its limits [no matter how grand and perfect and noble]; Your commandment is exceedingly broad and extends without limits [into eternity].” – Psalm‬ ‭119:96‬ ‭(AMP‬‬)

We are limited, but God our Father is not. His love knows no bounds, He’s outside of time, He hasn’t failed and He won’t start now. He turns the bad to good, He makes the impossible possible, His promises are Yes and Amen. His Word doesn’t return void; His truth is eternal. He doesn’t have limits like we do.

We are limited people, loved by an unlimited God.
