On the Path

Our Bible reading plan has us in the book of Deuteronomy this week, and I’m kind of loving it! There were a couple about “the path” that have stuck with me…

  • “So Moses told the people, ‘You must be careful to obey all the commands of the Lord your God, following his instructions in every detail. Stay on the path that the Lord your God has commanded you to follow. Then you will live long and prosperous lives in the land you are about to enter and occupy.’” – Deuteronomy‬ ‭5:32-33‬ ‭(NLT‬‬)
  • “There below me I could see that you had sinned against the Lord your God. You had melted gold and made a calf idol for yourselves. How quickly you had turned away from the path the Lord had commanded you to follow!” – Deuteronomy‬ ‭9:16‬ ‭(NLT‬)

Stay on the path God has called you to follow. Walk in His ways. Be found in the middle of His will for your life.

Even when you get weary. Even if it feels like you’re just going in circles. Even when there are obstacles and detours. Even when the world tries to distract you and get you off course.

Stay on the path that leads to Him.

It’s my prayer that we wouldn’t be so quick to turn to the right or the left, that we wouldn’t be discouraged on our journey heavenward and abandon the path God has marked out for us.

Believe that you belong here, at this moment, on this path.

“Beloved, we will never fully enter into the reality we desire if we don’t believe we are worthy to be there. The pursuit of our deepest longings is a journey of self-worth.”

Scott Erickson, Say Yes: Discover the Surprising Life Beyond the Death of a Dream (page 147)

You’re worthy of the path you’re on. You’re worthy of God’s unconditional love and redemptive grace. Receive His strength, keep moving forward, follow His lead. He’s a good Guide and such a faithful Father. Trust His plan, and stay on the path.
