Happy New Year!!
Today is the 12th day of Christmas, which means my family is celebrating with one more night of movies/activities/snacks!
My favorite tradition at the start of each new year is choosing a #oneword. A word to be on the lookout for, a theme, something to focus on for the next 365 days. A combination of letters to study, walk with, and find purpose in.
My previous words include: breathe, held, bloom, savor, and trust. Each one proved to be an important part of my journey.
For 2022, my word is worthy.
It’s kind of two-fold:
- God is worthy… of my worship, praise, attention, etc. This year, I want to focus on God and how He is worthy.
- I also want to remember how I am worthy of love and belonging.
The latter is a little harder for me. (More like a struggle.)
Worthy is different from my past words, because it’s an adjective instead of a verb. Something to be rather than do. Identity over action.
And I believe it’s timely. I’m tired of feeling unworthy. So this year, I have an intentional companion to remind me.
Here are a few of the verses and quotes I’ve gathered so far:
- “I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies.” – 2 Samuel 22:4
- “So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” – Matthew 10:31
- “Worthy now. Not if. Not when. We are worthy of love and belonging now. Right this minute. As is.” – Brené Brown
- “A lot of doubt and uncertainty in our lives comes from not knowing that we are worthy.” – Anonymous
- “You’re worthy of being chosen, fought for, and loved. Remember that.” – Mark Groves

I’d love to know your word in the comments below! I write them in my planner & pray for you throughout the year 💕
I chose the word VICTORY and already has shown up many times and I am expecting big things for 2022
Love your word. Interesting that it’s a adjective
