TRUST: Through Rest, Understanding, Surrender & Truth

In our weekly staff prayer time, I journaled some prayers and verses…

Your word doesn’t return void. Your ways and Your thoughts are higher than mine (Isaiah 55:8-11).

Daily You bear our burdens (Psalm 68:19). We lay it all at your feet. Every burden, every lie, every fear, every heavy and ill-fitting thing.

We make room. We make space for You to fill.

As soon as I finished writing some of these notes, a song started playing that I had never heard before… Make Room by Community Music. Here are a few of the lyrics:

  • Here is where I lay it down
  • This is my surrender
  • I’ll make room for You
  • Your way is better

I could not believe my ears. God’s timing was perfect, gracious, and kind. I was simply in awe of Him. He used this song to confirm everything He had been putting on my heart.

“Great is our Lord and mighty in power; His understanding has no limit.” – Psalm 147:5

I was also reminded this week of my acronym for TRUST from January: Through Rest, Understanding, Surrender, & Truth.

“I want to trust Him through rest, resting in His love. I want to trust Him through understanding, getting to know His heart and character better. I want to trust Him through surrender, surrendering to His plan. I want to trust Him through truth, relying on the truth of His word and His promises.” – Trust blog (1/6/21)

We choose to trust You through rest in Your presence. As we look to Your example and learn the unforced rhythms of grace. As we receive Your faithful, unconditional love.

We choose to trust You as grow in our understanding of You. As we learn more about Your character, as we get to know Your heart. As we seek Your face above all else.

We choose to trust You through the surrender our lives, our will, our plan, our way. We believe Your thoughts and Your ways are higher, better. We fix our eyes on You and what You want to do in us and through us.

We choose to trust You as we read and study Your Truth. Your words, Your promises, do not return to You empty. Even when we can’t see or make sense of it, Your Words stand firm forever. The words You speak are creative, powerful, and eternal.

It’s my hope and prayer that you’re encouraged in this very moment. Wherever you are, whatever you’re facing… God sees you. He hears you. He knows you. And He cares deeply about you. His understanding has no limit, and His love knows no bounds.

Carve out some time and space to spend time with Him, to read His Words in the Bible and to hear the song of love He’s singing over you. Trust Him today through rest, understanding, surrender, and truth.

You are dearly loved.
