A Few of My Favorite Things: August

Our August has been filled with establishing new rhythms and routines – as well as all the emotions, bravery, and grace that go along with that. I’m so proud of my kids for persevering through so many changes and firsts. ALSO! A special shout-out to my husband – today is his birthday!! It’s an honor to do life with him and grow old with him ❤️

Here are some of my favorites for this month!

Books:

Bible Verse:

  • “Praise the Lord. How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise Him! The Lord builds up Jerusalem; He gathers the exiles of Israel. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. Great is our Lord and mighty in power; His understanding has no limit. The Lord sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground. Sing to the Lord with grateful praise; make music to our God on the harp. He covers the sky with clouds; He supplies the earth with rain and makes grass grow on the hills. He provides food for the cattle and for the young ravens when they call.” – Psalm 147:1-9

Hobbies:

  • Going to the Beach! We introduced the kids to the California coast a couple weeks ago!
  • Visiting Family! So grateful we are only a couple hours away from my sister and brother-in-law!

Family Game:

  • What do you Meme? Family Edition – we did remove a few cards that were deemed slightly inappropriate and not really in line with our conversations around the dinner table, but this game always makes us laugh out loud!

What’s for Dinner:

  • Chicken Salad Sandwiches – we needed an easy meal for those hot summer nights, and this one has made its way back into the dinner rotation! I have a recipe I use from years ago, but this one from Kristine’s Kitchen is similar (we use green onions instead of red)!
