A Few of My Favorite Things: March

Welcome to this month’s blog of my favorite things (birthday edition)! I hope that you are inspired and encouraged today!

Daily Rhythms:

  • Another amazing Bible study from The Daily Grace Co! This one is called Delight, and it covers Psalm 1-30. It’s beautiful, Word-focused, and motivates me to dig deeper!
  • Blue Letter Bible is one of the best resources when I’m studying the Bible! I love to look up the Greek and Hebrew definitions of words, and this is my favorite (and free) place to go!

Books:

  • Forgiving What You Can’t Forget by Lysa TerKeurst – This was a recommended read from my counselor! My husband gave it to me for my birthday. I love Lysa’s style of writing; it’s honest and easy to relate to.
  • Four Hundred Souls edited by Ibram X. Kendi & Keisha N. Blain – a gift from my sister and brother-in-law. So much of our country’s history has been swept under the rug. We need to educate ourselves if we’re going to change the future.
  • Vacation Rentals: The Ultimate Guide by Christina VanDergrift – a local author and friend wrote this book! She has amazing tips and engaging stories. If you’re looking for a new adventure, read this book!
  • The Undefeated by Kwame Alexander – my new favorite children’s book!

Bible Verses:

  • “The spacious, free life is from GOD, it’s also protected and safe. GOD -strengthened, we’re delivered from evil— when we run to Him, He saves us.” – Psalm‬ ‭37:39-40‬ ‭(MSG‬‬)
  • “Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that. Don’t be impressed with yourself. Don’t compare yourself with others. Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life.” – Galatians‬ ‭6:4-5‬ ‭(MSG‬‬)
  • “For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With His love, He will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” – Zephaniah‬ ‭3:17‬ ‭(NLT‬‬)
  • “But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.” – ‬‬Psalm 3:3 (AMPC)

Music:

Hobbies:

  • Travel – Jon and I got to stay overnight in Harrisburg for my birthday! Our best friends gifted us an AirBnB gift card for Christmas (and hosted our kids overnight!)… it was nice to experience a bit of the local scene, and the weather was incredible (especially for mid-March in Pennsylvania!). A few of our favorite stops: Anna Rose Bakery, The Millworks, & Tomato Pie Cafe.
  • More Charcuterie – this time a St. Patrick’s Day theme. It was fun tracking down all things green! Ain’t Too Proud To Meg always has creative ideas.

Treats:

  • Ice cream cake – this recipe is my go-to! For my birthday I did a chocolate peanut butter version (though mint is equally as delicious). I used homemade peanut butter cookies for the base and crumble topping, as well as homemade whipped cream for one of the layers, and Justin’s dark chocolate peanut butter cups for the top!
  • Aloha Protein Bars (I’ve enjoyed all the flavors I’ve tried, but Chocolate Mint is my favorite)
  • GF Maple Bars from New Cascadia Traditional in Portland, OR (a gift from my sister!)

Jewelry:

  • Trust Bracelet, a gift from my best friend Clarissa
  • Trust Necklace, a gift from my dear friend Darcy

Birthday Dinner:

  • Pad Thai – Made by my husband; he followed the recipe, minus the shrimp!
