Daily Bread {gluten-free, of course}

In my daily Bible reading, Psalm 19:7-11 recently caught my attention:

“The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes. The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. The ordinances of the Lord are sure and altogether righteous. They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb. By them your servant is warned; in keeping them there is great reward.”

God’s Word is perfect, refreshing the soul. It’s trustworthy, bringing wisdom to us. It’s right, creating joy in our hearts. It’s radiant, giving light to our eyes. It’s pure, enduring forever. It’s firm, altogether righteous. It’s more precious than much pure gold. It’s sweeter than honey dripping off the honeycomb. It’s warning and reward.

His Word is wonderful and full of wonder. It brings comfort to a weary soul. It carries us through trial and trouble, hardship and heartache, the unknown and the unfathomable.

God speaks to us through the Bible; His Word is alive and relevant.

Our pastor gave us an assignment this week to spend 5 quiet minutes with God every day, to read the Word until He speaks to us. I want to encourage you to join in on the challenge – check out the message from Sunday for more details! It has been an amazing time of listening, connecting, and being strengthened in the Word. We need this daily bread!

Here are the verses I’ve been “chewing” on each day this week!

“Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God; He is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge. Selah” – Psalm 62:5-8

“Because You are my help, I sing in the shadow of Your wings. My soul clings to You; Your right hand upholds me.” – Psalm 63:7-8

“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” – Colossians 2:6-7

“How long, O Lord? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me? How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and every day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me? Look on me and answer, O Lord, my God. Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death; my enemy will say, ‘I have overcome him,’ and my foes will rejoice when I fall. But I trust in Your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in Your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, for He has been good to me.” – Psalm 13*

“But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” – 1 Corinthians 15:57-58

I’d love to hear if you’re doing the challenge! Share in the comments a verse that God is speaking to you!

*For my Enneagram friends, Psalm 13:2 really resonated with me as a One! “How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and every day have sorrow in my heart?”
