There is no formula for grief. No equation for loss that balances out. And so we’re forced to find a way that works for us, a way to grasp the truth – regardless of how harsh or unfair it is.
For me, it’s music and writing.
And so, a couple songs that are helping me right now, followed by some words I’ve woven together. I pray they are a help and encouragement as you process, whenever loss comes near, in whatever form it takes. And please know… you are loved, and you are never alone.
“Tremble” by Upper Room
“You’re Gonna Be Okay” by Brian & Jenn Johnson

Trying to pick up the pieces of life after loss.
Trying to make sense of what seems so senseless.
Trying to grasp the reality of what feels so unreal.
A devastating, tragic accident that took a life well lived, that stole a soul that loved like Jesus.
I hear the sound of tires screeching.
Hurriedness coming to a deafening halt.
Stillness surrounds. It screams a silent call.
The news hits like a ton of bricks, as we try to process what has happened.
We’re frozen in shock, stumbling through sorrow.
The game of blame seems pointless now, as the end result cannot be changed.
Grief seizes the hearts left behind.
Mourning and peace attempt a dance together.
Hope emerges in flashes of light, but the emptiness remains.
Comfort cannot erase
and time cannot replace
the life so beautifully lived
that will be so dearly missed.
Run free in Heaven’s streets of gold,
forever safe in Father’s arms.
